This Bible is a piece of art, beautifully designed and easy to read and understand. The NIrV translation makes it perfect for the young reader or even those with English as their second language. The text is set without interruption. The main story appears in simple, single-column text, which allows the story to flow; and the rest of the text (genealogies, laws, poetry, letters, etc.) is set in double columns. The side notes are written to bring clarity to the text. This Bible will compel people of all ages to read God's Word. ( more )

My husband and I have traveled to the Philippines and Ethiopia on short term mission trips. We have taken hundreds of the NIrV Bible and they are truly appreciated. We always seem to run out and wish we had taken more.

I purchased a few of this for my friends whose first language was not English. The pictures were beautiful. Summaries, maps and topical headings were very helpful. I believe, however, Good News Translation is much easier to non-English speaking people, and some people (in fact, I) would like Annie Valloton's simple drawing more. This bible, however, is appealing far more to artists (my friends happened to be artists-designers and musicians). High quality paper, beautiful pictures, helpful maps and unique paragraphs placement.... For less than 5 bucks, you need not think twice or look for else.

Our church has used this as a 3rd Grade gift Bible for two years. The binding is not hardcover, but it also isn't really appropriate to call it a paperback. It's somewhere between, with nice flexibility but a durability and a tactile finish that's really nice. The full-color illustrations throughout also add a richness to the presentation. The whole book has a rather classic feel, accessible to children but not childish. Bearing in mind the other options this is an excellent value for the money.

I'm using this version as part of our church project to read the bible in 90 days. The NIRV language captures the "feel" of the simplicity of the Bible in a satisfying way. Also, after this first, detailed reading, I plan to re-read it utilizing the "narrative" sections only - great idea for gaining the big picture!

I ORDERED THIS FOR MY GROWN SON AND HE LOVES IT. IT'S EASY TO UNDERSTAND AND GIVES THE READER A 'DESIRE' TO READ GOD'S WORD. THANK YOU!
