The Next Mile
resources are designed to assist local churches and agencies plan
and conduct effective ministry. Participants in the short-term mission
experience include the goer/sender/local church/goer's family/mentor/host
and those to whom the STMer ministers. The mission experience that is
well-planned and carried out will affect the life of each participant
in their continuing journey to become more like Christ.
Included in the
Goer Guide
is a spiritual journal with daily Bible readings and space to
journal record thoughts from Scripture and write prayer requests. This
helpful tool begins 14 days before departure and continues for 7 days
after the conclusion of a short-term trip. In a sealed envelope inside
the
Goer Guide
is a
Mentor Guide
that serves as a simple yet powerful and practical resource for Mentors.
The nature of short-term mission trips is that they are by design
short! Therefore the second mile doesn't even begin until we get home.
As a result it could be that the most important aspect of a short-term
mission experience is where we typically place the least emphasis what
we do once the trip is over! Now in
The Next Mile we have a comprehensive resource that builds
on dozens of excellent resources. Its focus is the integration of our
short-term mission experience into our lives once we return. ---Tim
