Thinking Again About Conversion
David Greenlee
A thorough look at how we approach the topic and reality of conversion in our present political world climate.
Conversion is at the core of Christian experience. Is it a process? Or can conversion be confined to a point in time? In our tolerance-driven, globalized world, should we even use the word at all? Social, political, and theological challenges push us to think again about this vital theme.
Drawing on twenty-five years of mission experience, David Greenlee blends anthropological insights with evangelical theology to provide helpful missiological insights on conversion. He thoroughly illustrates the issue with cases and stories from South Asia where anti-conversion sentiment runs high, the Islamic world where the Law of Apostacy challenges any who would turn to Christ, and Europe where traditional religion and post-modern tolerance both confront any suggestion of conversion.
Currently the International Research and Strategy Associate for Operation Mobilization, David Greenlee has taught in India and Sri Lanka and spent fifteen years in over sixty countries working with the OM ships followed by five years as field director for OM in North America. He has written papers and articles for many journals on practices and strategies for mission and evangelism. David currently resides in Switzerland.
