The Books of The Bible

ENCOURAGING BETTER BIBLE READING

While Supplies Last

The Books of the Bible project encourages better Bible reading, particularly by emphasizing the reading of whole books. The result is an inviting and clean visual presentation of the Bible, in Today's New International Version ( TNIV ), that can be understood and enjoyed more easily. The Books of the Bible differs from the format of most current Bibles in significant ways:

  • Chapter and verse numbers are removed from the text
(A chapter and verse range is given at the bottom of each page)
  • Each book's natural literary breaks are shown instead
  • There are no notes, cross references, or section headings in the text
  • Text is presented in one column rather than two or more
  • Books that have historically been divided into parts are restored
  • Books are presented in an order that gives readers more help in understanding

Man I love this edition of the TNIV. Boy, would I ever like to see this format gain popularity amongst all the major bible publishers and their flagship translation, especially the Holman Christian Standard Bible. I consider this the best translation in the English language.

I had researche TNIV on both sides of it's issues and decided to check it out eventually. I had then started thinking I wanted a Bible without the chapters and verses and found the only one out there was TNIV. That was enough to convince me to buy it. I love reading this Bible, and it serves the purpose very well. I really like the price, and I even like the quality. If you keep a Bible on the shelf in perfect condition, it's probably not doing you any good. I'm more than happy to wear a few of these out and pay for the new ones as needed.

This is a breakthrough Bible that anyone can enjoy and profit from. The format is terrific. I love it so much I'm having difficulty going back to my Bible with chapters and verses. Once you've tried this Bible you'll never go back. Only issue I have is I wish it came in a quality edition. Skip Cartin

I agonized for such a Bible a few years before being sent info about this site! I immediately ordered a copy and began reading when it hit my door. There is no substitute for reading the books/letters of the Bible the way they were originally written. My only disappointment concerns a preference for NKJV, rather than NIV. I have recommended this Bible to many folks since!

This Bible edition grabs and holds your heart. Chapter and verse headings and numbers draw more attention away from The Word than you may think. Grab this edition and dig in. Hours will pass before yu know it. What a great way to spend time in The Word! Buy one now!!

This takes the bible from feeling like reference material to actual books, poems and letters as they were originally intended. I started with Luke-Acts and it read like an exciting novel - but much better of course! My only caution - and the reason for my 4 star rating - is the liberal bias of the notes before each book. It would be absolutely fabulous to have this book with just pure text and no commentary whatsoever. That being said, I'm ordering my second case to give away as gifts.

I have often wished for a bible that was as close as possible to the original text formats, without all the chapter/verse/footnote/cross-reference/notes that have been added over the centuries. Now my wish has come true! After reading the bible -- the NIV and/or TNIV -- for 31 years, this edition speaks to me in a new way. I highly recommend it.

For years exegetes and Bible teachers have been telling people to read the context of each Bible statement, and yet we give people Bibles that make this simple and necessary step difficult and not at all intuitive. When every verse has its own paragraph every verse is represented as an unconnected thought, like the book of Proverbs. I am very excited about this new format, and I hope more literal translations (sorry, TNIV!) issue similar editions. mlwj
